Fonterra - Experience Centre

Activity based workplace technology.

This project for Fonterra‘s new Auckland offices forged new development in activity based workplace technology.

Working in collaboration with the clients’ change management team, architects, project managers and building services engineers we were able to deliver a leading edge Audio Visual technology system. This deployment effectively supported the agility and flexibility of Fonterra’s new activity based Ways of Working for their pilot space in downtown Auckland that will ultimately be rolled out in their new global HQ on the Auckland Viaduct.

A bookable “Inform” Space features a Lync 2013 integration system via the Crestron RL2 system. Two 60” Sharp commercial grade interactive screens provide Lync video conferencing and annotation over shared content as well as a digital ‘whiteboard’ capability. A table mounted 10” Crestron touchpanel, manages the video conferencing session, addition of participants and content sharing, and also controls lights, blinds and HVAC. The Polycom Producer cameras automatically frame up the shot depending on the number of attendees and where they are seated in the room. Audio reinforcement is via a sound bar mounted underneath the screens and a series of ceiling mounted microphones. Any participant BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) that is connected is automatically sent up to the screen.

The non-bookable “Create/Brainstorm” space features a Sharp commercial grade 47” wall mounted screen. This system focuses on allowing a team to concentrate on sharing information, creating and brainstorming new ideas and concepts. The system is controlled via a 10” Crestron touch panel and BYOD connection is via the table mounted hardwired inputs.

A popular meeting space in an agile working environment is the “Soft Collaboration Space” featuring a comfortable seating arrangement facing a large format 70” interactive screen by Sharp, a full Crestron RL Lync integration system as well as a 10” Crestron touch panel. This space also supports a BYOD facility and provides for wireless device connectivity. All the audio for the room is done via the screen and the microphone for the Lync system is via the screen mounted HD webcam.

Organisations are now more than ever focused on providing technology environments that support a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) connection facility. In many cases team members have company laptops or tablets as part of the workplace technology issue. All AV driven spaces in this project provide for third party device connectivity as part of the collaborative process and a simple connection capability supports an agile working environment.

The enclosed bookable Collaboration Spaces provide a Lync RL solution that brings the power of the Microsoft Lync unified communications solution and the flexibility and ease-of-use Crestron control platform together to create an environment where the team can collaborate on a particular project and draw in regional and even internationally based team members as part of the discussion. This space features a single Sharp 47” monitor, hardwired BYOD input and a 10” Crestron touch panel for the Lync and room system management. The sound reinforcement is via celling mounted microphones and the screen speakers.

The Crestron Fusion RV room booking system provides information on each space. Using the Crestron TSS-752 touch panel, a user can not only view the booking schedule for that space as well as the nature of the meetings (either in-progress or booked), but also make ad-hoc meetings from the touch panel, locate available rooms of a similar nature in the immediate area. When the room is occupied, the touch panel turns partially red to indicate the room is in use but not actually booked.
