Fonterra - UCC Rooms Refresh

An evolution of Fonterra’s meeting room technology

Our client, a global dairy nutrition company owned by 10,000 farmers and their families, has a long and proud heritage of innovation and pioneering many world firsts.  Fonterra Cooperative Group chose Automation Associates Commercial as their technology partner to support their next phase of strategy, focused on value growth out to 2025.

Automation Associates Commercial has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Fonterra over the past 7 years and as a result was the preferred partner for the evolution of their meeting room technology to encompass Unified Communication and Collaboration systems.

In 2016, Fonterra engaged Automation Associates Commercial to design and install the technology suite at their Auckland HQ on Fanshaw Street.  Subsequently, in 2020 Fonterra again engaged Automation Associates Commercial to assist with their global initiative to upgrade meeting room technology, shifting to a cloud-based Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) environment and Microsoft Azure based video conferencing, supporting off-premise working.

This 12-month project included a comprehensive assessment and design phase in close collaboration with HCL, Fonterra’s global IT and technology partner, to ensure the solution was perfect across both national and global offices.

A meeting room solution based on the Crestron Flex range has been deployed – this Microsoft certified technology suite provides a consistent user experience and administration platform across Fonterra’s global meeting room real estate.

The project included decommissioning as well as installation of new hardware in both existing and new spaces across 52 regional meeting rooms, plus 63 meeting rooms at the Fanshaw Street HQ, and priority rooms in Hamilton and Wellington offices.

Design documentation, including floorplans, elevations and wiring diagrams were created for every space, with project management and installation services provided by the Automation Associates Commercial team.

A variety of Crestron Flex technology solutions were implemented depending on room size and use.

Microsoft Certified Meeting Rooms (MTR) is the platform on which the Crestron systems operate.

Crestron Tabletop Conferencing Systems, Logitech Conference Camera systems and Crestron Desk phones are installed throughout Fonterra’s nationwide meeting rooms in this refreshment project.

Most rooms also include single or dual 55”, 60”, 65” and/or 70” 4K ultra-high definition displays.

Whatever the size, a consistent user interface is maintained across all rooms to ensure ease of use and smooth device interconnectivity, allowing staff to connect effortlessly across the globe.

The workplace technology is managed by Creston XiO Cloud licensing, delivering one unifying operations platform achieving simple monitoring and management of every room in every location.
