City Apartment - Putting the party into apartment

When our client wanted a ‘Party’ button installed on the front of their equipment rack to put the entire apartment into ‘party mode’ we knew this was going to be an epic project.

Located in the heart of Auckland CBD, close to the Britomart precinct this stunning apartment oozes style, and packs the punches with whole home automation controlling lights, blinds, extensive multi-room audio, and a Dolby Atmos surround sound home theatre.

A smart wiring infrastructure sets the scene for reliable connection of high speed Wi-Fi devices like the clients iPhones and collection of iPad pros, low latency cabled connections for their PC’s and Macs and provides the ability to seamlessly add new equipment as technology changes.

A Vantage whole-home automation system provides effortless control over the lights, blinds, aircon, music and potent home theatre system.  Favourite entertainment pre-sets can be recalled via a single button push.  Controlled via backlit keypads, on-wall touchscreens, and a mobile device app the Vantage home automation system simplifies the operation of all of the apartments various systems.

Of course, you can’t have a proper party without great music.  The ‘whole of home’ audio system is built around a high-resolution streaming media player with digital amps for the best possible sound.  An illuminated ‘Party’ button on the front of the equipment rack was installed to recall the client’s favourite Spotify playlist in all zones at a pre-set volume – it doesn’t get any simpler than that!

The Autonomic Mirage whole-of-home audio amplifier and music server are paired with TruAudio ultra-flush, rimless in-ceiling speakers to deliver pure high-resolution audio to the living and dining room, bar, master bedroom and en suite.  The whole-of-home audio system is integrated with the Vantage system controlled via the Vantage app.

The living room features an impressive home theatre with 86” TV and a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System, including an in-wall subwoofer for an in-home cinematic experience.  A custom length soundbar has been provided perfectly matching the width of the TV and provides the centre channel of audio.

The carefully designed combination of in-ceiling speakers, in-wall subwoofer and soundbar delivers deep bass, provides incredible contrast, smooth tone, and rich, bright colours, giving a full high-definition experience with an exceptionally realistic and natural picture quality.

Bedrooms are outfitted with 49” Smart TVs.  The master bedroom features a motorised swing-bracket which automatically turns the television towards the viewing position when the television is turned on.  When turned off, the motorised bracket gracefully moves the TV back against the wall revealing a stunning view of the harbour and Hauraki gulf beyond.

The usual keypad for front door access control was not permitted by the body corporate so an RFID reader was concealed behind the gib and provides access by secure app loaded onto the client’s phones.  A traditional keyed entry system has also been provided as a backup for access in case of an extended power cut.

A custom designed AV rack contains the powerhouse of equipment and is essential for organisation of the hardware, tidy cable management, airflow ventilation for cooling, facilitates future serviceability and rack mounting of the hardware for security and safety.
